Both gather town and SoWork have free and paid tiers. The most important difference is what's in the free tier, and what allows for the most functionality. SoWork allows teams to have unlimited teammates in their free plan. So unlike gather town, you will not need to pay for everyone as soon as you have 11+ users in the office.
Instead, they limit certain features.
SoWork has 3 plans:
✨ Free - the biggest restrictions are the 30 minute meeting limit, no meeting AI, and no meeting recording. In this tier, you can choose any size office you'd like.
✨ Basic ($4/person/month) - this removes the 30 minute meeting limit. It's for teams that aren't ready for premium features, but want to pay to get rid of the 30 minute meeting restriction.
✨ Premium ($10/person/month OR $8/person/month when paid annually) - this is the no limits, full feature access plan (meeting recording, AI tools, etc).
Every new office in SoWork starts on a 4 week premium trial, and then admin are able to decide which plan they want to use once the trial has ended. SoWork also offers day passes for all plans, so you can have visitors come to the office for free. Think interviewee, board meeting, a customer. They also offer discounts on annual plans, and for teams > 100 people, etc.
Gather town's pricing model limits free offices to 10 people, and includes calendar integration, unlimited auto/video chat and customizations. A huge drawback here is that guests, part-time teammates, any user in any capacity, is included in your 10 people. This means that in gather town, you're only able to have 10 people in your office concurrently, regardless of their role.
Once you're over 10 people (guests included), you need to pay for every teammate at $7/person/month. For example, if you're on a monthly subscription that allows 11 people in your office at the same time, you'd pay $7 per person per month, so the total would be $77/month.

How to Upgrade Your Plan in SoWork
✨ If you're an admin of your space, head to the Profile & Account area at any time and select Settings.
✨ Next, go to Team Settings and select Billing Information. Here, you'll be able to see your current plan details and peruse the Basic and Premium options.
✨ We'll also show you a countdown in-app of how many days you have left in your trial, and send you an email when it's about to expire so you can do your thing!
✨ Once you've selected your Basic or Premium plan, you'll be prompted to enter your payment details, and voilà! You're done 🙂
