Let's look at spontaneous conversations between meetings. After all, that's one of the reasons we love the virtual office! Just like in gather town, you can grab a teammate and clarify some details on a project, chat about your upcoming holiday, ask a colleague a quick question, and so much more! 😍

In SoWork, you're able to easily see who's available to chat and run over to them. The What's Happening menu on the left-hand side is helpful for getting a quick glimpse of all activity in the office. It makes the office feel more alive - you can see and easily greet guests, get a sense of your teammates' deep work hours, and note when folks have stepped away for a bite to eat. Maybe you can even take lunch together! Gather town has a Participants menu that seems more geared toward showing you who's in a meeting, rather than who's around in the office in general, and what they're up to. While the gather town menu is more basic, you can still see who's green and marked 'Available' to chat.

How to Have a Spontaneous Video Connection in SoWork

A SoWork Image

✨ Similar to gather town, simply walk up to the person you'd like to connect with using your arrow keys or WASD keys.

✨ From there, your audio and video will connect automatically, and you'll be able to have that conversation you've been looking forward to!

✨ When you're all done, you can walk away from your teammate and - just like that - your audio and video will disconnect.
